Now this isn't the first time we've tried, truth be known but this time it feels right. He is old enough to reason with, to ask questions and understand the answers. Plus he is now at nursery and a number of the other children in his group are already fully trained (so to speak) and I think he is noticing that he still has nappies like the babies. And the one thing he KEEPS telling me is 'I am not a baby, Mummy!'
We have decided to bypass the potty as he is already taller than average and was finding sitting down that low a bit uncomfortable so we have gone straight to the 'Big Toilet'. Well he's got to get used to it sooner or later!
We have a drawer full of new pants and a sticker reward chart. And the little man's desire to be a big boy now. I hope that is enough!
Potty training - day 1 So glad we have a washing machine... |
Hi! Go for it! And don't look back even if the going gets tough! We did it here and she was done in a week! We just took them off and that was that! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteMummy wow ... I'm a big kid now ...
ReplyDeleteRemember that tagline?
Aww sweet. That's what you were hoping wasn't it?
Bless.
We're having great success at the moment after a few failed attempts. I think they just realise they can do it, like a natural developmental step and as long as you keep potty and toilet on the agenda (gentle pushing, as I call it) they will do it in their own time. We're only having 1 accident a week and some of those are during naps where nursery forget to put a nappy on! Nursery has been instrumental, as my daughter sees the other kids go plus they have a very clear potty routine with good practice (apart from the few nap incidences). Sounds like he's ready, so be prepared for lots of proud beaming smiles all round! :-)
ReplyDeletePotty training is tough, I didn't train my oldest until he was 2 3/4 and said he wanted to go. He was trained in 3 days with chocolate buttons as rewards. Think the little one will be in nappies forever. :) Good luck and hang in there. x
