#InnerTruth - The Quest for Energy...

Following the change of tact with NewMumOnline's Monday linky I have spent far less time this week actually thinking about my weight and far more time just getting on with things. The kitchen spring clean/sort out has begun - I found £6 in loose change behind the microwave :-) - and a fair bit of time has been spent in the garden digging and tidying up ready for Spring planting.

I have been doing a lot more Yoga this week too - using the WiiFit as a prompt/reminder ( a word about this at the end of this post*) and the Little Man has been joining in. It's very sweet watching him try and hold the Warrior pose but I really do not recommend doing the Cobra with a nearly 3 stone toddler on your back!

#TheGallery - Light

It's been a while since I have taken part in The Gallery linky but when I saw this week's prompt I knew I just had to join in.

Light.

The photographer's best friend.

I love early morning light - the promise of a bright day to come...

I love light through leaves...

I love light on water...

I love explosions of light!

I love snoozes in the afternoon light...

I love early evening light too - especially on the beach...

But most of all I love the perfect light that lets you see ALL the detail, exactly how it is, and preserve it forever in a snap shot moment...

Now - why not pop along to Tara's blog, Sticky Fingers,  and check out all the other entrants to this weeks Gallery...

The Generic mp3 Shuffle Game - Round 2

You know,  I love my music but I don't get to listen to it nearly as much as I used to or want to (strangely the LM would rather listen to The Bopps than Bjork but I'm sure he'll grow out of it ;-) )

My lovely OH bought me a new phone a couple of Christmasses ago that had a built in MP3 and since the LM has been going to nursery, and I have had the long walk to pick him up, I have finally had the chance to indulge in all my old favourites (and a few new ones).

I spotted this game on Seasider in the City blog today, inspired by a similar game on the Chris Moyles Show. Apparently I missed round one, but nevermind. The idea is you set your MP3 on shuffle and share the first 5 tunes that come up - whatever they may be. Could be interesting (or a bit embarrassing or just down right hilarious)...

So lets Shuffle....

1 System of a Down - Forest

2  Duran Duran - Reach up for the Sunrise

3 All About Eve - Scarlet

4 Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World

5 Green Day - Hitchin' a Ride

So there you go. Never let it be said that my tastes are not varied...

Good Bloggers Pay it Forward...

It so nice when a fellow blogger likes your blog enough to recommend it to their readers and that is just what Pay it Forward is all about! So many thanks to the lovely Kerry at Multiple Mummy for tagging me and all the other MUMenTUM ladies (thanks for tagging ALL of us!)

And now - the Rules
1. Put the badge at the top of your post.....DONE
2. Refer to the lovely blogger(s) who awarded it.....DONE
3. Pay it forward to five others....

So here are five blogs I pop along to regularly
1.  Michelle at Lost in Translation is new to blogging and would really appreciate some more blog love :)
2.  Tracey at Painted Ghost makes gorgeous things for babies and is right on my wavelength
3. Erica at 92three30 A lovely blog full of great reviews and gorgeous photos. And possibly the best named 'parent of school age kids' blog ever!
4. Him up North at The Blog up North He always makes me chuckle. Even when that's probably not what he intended. Probably already been tagged but what the hell...
5. John at Files and Records Father of 5 lives much further up North than Him up North! Cooks a lot of curry...

So there you have it - five very different blogs. Hope you find something new you enjoy :)

What I am reading in May...

Have just discovered a lovely meme hosted by Jules over on her fabulously named blog 'I need curtains for the window in my head'. She wants to know what we are all reading each month. Click on the button at the end of this post to find out what everyone else is reading and for more info if you want to join in :)

There is definitely an ancient feel to my reading material this month!

First up, indulging my inner geek with a fabulous book by historian Bettany Hughes that I found in my local library. 'Helen of Troy. Goddess, Princess, Whore' looks at the historical/archaeological evidence from Bronze Age Aegean in the search for the 'real' Helen - the high-born princess whose unrivalled beauty has made her an icon. This is a really detailed look at what life for Spartan woman over 3000 years ago would have been like and will be a great resource for the novel I am working on chronicling the life of another fascinating heroine from Greek Mythology - Medea. Might have to get this one for the shelf...

From Greeks to Romans and I have treated myself to the paperback edition of 'The Eagle of the Ninth Chronicles' by Rosemary Sutcliffe. We went to see the new movie version of this story recently as the Other Half's brother is in it (he is one of the original Ninth Legion soldiers that survived in the wilderness and fought to reclaim the Eagle. Quite strange seeing someone you know so well on the big screen :) ) The movie was very good of course, but I was left with the need to re-read the original story. I think I was about 12 when I read it last time and my recollection of it is slightly different to the movie version...

What are you reading?

What's in my fridge...

Ok so I have seen this meme floating around blogland recently - one fridge of particular note can be seen here at The Blog Up North. I had hoped that, as I am relatively new in the Twitter/Blogging community I might escape unscathed, but alas I have been tagged... (Thanks Clare at Seasider in the City )

So for your visual delight I present...my fridge

In case you want to re-create this fridge at home you will need...
2 lt semi-skimmed milk, 3 lt orange juice, Tip Top squirty cream, pickled onions, balti paste, sundried tomatoes, olives,4 eggs (free range of course;) ) baking margerine, carrots, potatoes, onions, spinach, baby leaf salad, grapes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, small vacuum pack of cooked beetroots, cooking apples (I promised to make apple crumble this weekend), nearly empty tub of houmous, half a tin of Alphabetti, baked beans, jam, pickle, mayo (reduced fat - I am on a diet after all), lemon juice, Very Lazy Chopped Ginger, some homemade marmalade, cheese, Dairylea in all it's forms, kids yoghurts, low fat fruity yoghurts, fruity jelly pots and some buttery spread, something unidentifiable in a tub (which has been thrown away you will be relieved to hear!). Oh, and a cling wrapped lump of gingerbread biscuit dough...

There, I bet you're impressed! Thank God I cleaned it out and stocked it up this week. Had I been required to do this last week all you'd have seen was a tub of old beef stew, some squidgy veggies and half a tin of KiteKat...

Now I am supposed to pass it on. As I mentioned I am fairly new to all this so I hope the 'chosen ones' a: haven't already done this and b:don't mind getting tagged :)

Liz at Me and My Shadow
Julia at I Need Curtains for the Window...
Kelly at The Wonderful World of Kokokelli
Elaine at Fun as a Gran
The fab McCaskie Clan
Have fun with it all of you. :)
