Folksy Friday - Stow it away

Definition of stow

verb

[with object and adverbial] pack or store (an object) carefully and neatly in a particular place

Now all the Christmas decs are back in the loft I have an overwhelming urge to get some order back into my home. Luckily I found some lovely items on Folksy to help me stow my clutter!

I am always losing my keys so this key holder made from an old oak cupboard door by skiprat creations would be an ideal addition to my kitchen! (I love the vintage key embellishment - I wonder if it fits the keyhole in the door?)

This beautiful and functional shelf is designed by Gafyn Owen of MijMoj Contemporary Furniture Design I love the dip in the shelf for loose change or keys and the inclusion of the single stem flower vase into the design is inspired!

This one off from Revival Furniture would make a great storage box for toys - quirky enough for kids to love and stylish enough to stay in the living room! Plus it doubles up as a handy stool.

I just love this idea! Vintage vinyl becomes useful book end in the hands of When the Music's Over who also produce clocks, letter racks and even jewellery from old records and tapes. This is repurposing at it's best!

Keep all your bills and lists in order so they are there when you need them with this fab wooden star peg organiser from Emma Lane Designs

I love these cute owl print storage baskets from Alexia Claire . They are quite dinky but the larger of the two would be perfect for storing my latest knitted socks WIP!

There are more storage and organisation ideas on my pinterest board here

Enjoy!

Folksy Friday - My 'Handmade on Folksy' Style

I love clothes. I'm not a fashionista by any means (typing right now in the sloppiest Joe jumper you have ever seen...) and I am certainly no slave to fashion but I do appreciate quality clothes.

I have never really investigated the clothes and shoes section on Folksy before (mainly because I would consider bespoke handmade clothes to be waaaaay beyond my budget) but this week I thought why the hell not?

Here's a selection of my favourites!

I love this gorgeous shirt by Fashion Couture - made to measure in stretch silk satin and fine cotton lace. You can't get much more luxurious than this!  (Yes it IS waaaaay out of my budget but a girl can dream!)

Lovely wrap around jersey top from jaworska.  I love her drapey cowl neck tops too!

Isn't this just the cutest dress? I love the colour. I love the style. And I adore the screen printed umbrella motif dancing around the hem!  Visit There's Only One Amy Laws and check out the cute 'Cowgirl' dress too!

More screen printed loveliness - this t-shirt comes from Proud Cloud Creations  at the most bargainous (yes I know that's probably NOT a real word!) price of £16!  I am definitely gonna have me one of these . . .

I adore this floaty accordion pleat LBD from Recycled Love. Lovingly made from recycled and vintage fabrics, all of Helen's designs are completely unique and one of a kind.  Absolutely guaranteed not to bump into someone wearing the same outfit as you!

And last, but by no means least, no outfit is complete without gorgeous shoes.  These cute ballet pumps are made from upcycled leather - scraps and off cuts from
larger projects and are available from The White Ribbon in a variety of colours.

This is just a small selection of the gorgeous handmade clothing available on Folksy. Check out my Pinterest board for more of my favourites - Folksy liked it so much they featured it on their home page earlier this week!

Folksy Friday - Polka Dots!

I am just a bit dotty about Polka Dots (some might say I'm a bit dotty full stop, but that's another story...). Actually I'm almost obsessed! Polka dot fabrics appear quite frequently in my work - most notably in my Spotty Cats and the 'Polka Dot and Roses' range. I have a big collection of polka dot fabrics in lots of different colour combinations so hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more dots at Forest Flower in the future.

In the meantime I had a gander round Folksy and found some lovely Polka Dots!
This gorgeous Kitty in Paris bracelet from Fluffs Stuff caught my eye - very cute and very dotty!

Kirsty Elson Designs Owl In The Moon would make a cute, quirky addition to a nursery.

Keeping with the baby theme - these adorable Polka Dot Baby Shoes by Angelic Folk are almost too cute for words!

Something pretty and practical - this glorious Pink Polka Dot Bag is from Polka - a shop so packed full of polka dots I felt I was in polka dot heaven...

Who could resist this fab photo from Miss Sugar Bone Makery.
I must find some space in my kitchen for it :)

And finally, lets not forget that boys like polka dots too...

These subtle polka dot Cuff links from Lilies and Daises will add a stylish finishing touch to a crisp white dress shirt.

I hope you enjoyed my selection - there a loads more fabulous Polka Dot pretties available on Folksy - just put 'polka dot' in the search box and see what comes up!

The Folksy A-Team!

After taking part in the June Loons and thouroughly enjoying myself, even if I did have to bow out halfway through when life kind of 'took over', I was itching to get back and do another monthly listing challenge.  July Jesters came and went and here we are in August with the A-Teamers. I have been doing my best to keep up to date, making and listing one item per day and so far so good...

Here's a little collage of the items I have listed in my shop this week. Unfortunately I just haven't had the time to blog daily this time but there are plenty of fabulous items on offer.

If you want to keep up with all the new pretties being posted each day and you are on Twitter keep an eye on the #augustateamers. Not only are the daily listings posted by those who tweet but also any related blog posts.

One of the best parts of being part of the Folksy community is that we all do our best to help, support and promote each other. Folksy Friday is one way to show your own personal pick of items for sale - usually with a theme. I do one on the second Friday of the month (ooo which means there's one due this Friday - I had better get searching for goodies ;)). Another way is with Showcase Sunday - this is where we pick one seller and promote their shop to all of our friends. I post this one on my Forest Flower facebook page and this week featured the gorgeous SnailEmporium.

Whatever you do a trip over to Folksy is worthwhile if you are looking for presents that are beautiful, handmade by artists and crafters in the UK, unique and unlike anything you'll find on the highstreet.

Folksy Friday - To the Beach!

In honour of our Family Day Out to the seaside I have decided that my very first Folksy Friday should have a seaside theme. A request on Folksy forums flooded me with beautiful seaside and beach themed pretties so I was hard pressed to pick my favourites but here they are.

First up - I absolutely adore Ocean Ripple Sea Glass Ring by Chicita at Gimme That Thing. I love the idea of salvaging 'sea glass' that has been washed smooth by the sea and sand and made beautiful... on the same theme is the stunning Wire wrapped sea glass necklace from the Beach Shack Project

This cute little Beach Hut Keyring from Buttercup Boutique would make a great decoration for your beach bag and AmyOrangeJuice's cute Stained Glass and Driftwood boat mobile will look gorgeous in a sunny window and remind you of the coast all year round.

I love all the beautiful, hand dyed yarns available at Wharfedale Woolworks. This is a lovely summery cotton DK yarn called On The Beach . I also love this black and white print from The Stone House entitled Boardwalk - it is so evocative and takes me back to family holidays spent building sandcastles and fishing in rock pools...

Talking of rock pools I think the bubble effect on this glass sushi dish called 'Ocean Floor' is very unusual and very pretty. And finally this great 'To the Beach' card  from Original Art by Clare says it all.

Happy Folksy Friday everyone - have fun at the beach :)
