Lovely things...

Do you ever wake up thinking 'Oh pants, it's Thursday. I hate Thursdays'?
(or maybe it's just me . . . )

You know those days when you have a lot to do and you don't really feel like doing it, but it has to be done. Thursdays are my paperwork days. Little Man goes off to nursery and I have to immerse myself in invoices, spreadsheets and bank statements. It's not my favourite way to pass the time, especially when it's the only bit of time I have had to myself all week!

Today was a little bit different.

Our lovely postie knocked at the door - which is usually a good sign. It means she has something to big to go through the letter box and as nasty bills generally come in skinny little envelopes!

I wasn't disappointed.

Look at all these goodies I received in the post today . . .

First up is my prize from the Twitter @craftyfolkEtsy giveaway . . .

A lovely selection of goodies from Lilly's Night Garden - some note cards with beautiful ethnic images, a gorgeous peacock note card in shades of blue (which, I think, will be saved for a special birthday) with glittery 'eyes' on it's sumptuous tail and a cute little trinket box with a butterfly motif on the lid. I love Dawn's shop on Etsy and I am already planning what I will use the 10% discount code she sent with my goodies. Thank you so much Dawn!

Secondly I got a lovely package from the One Stop Pamper shop . . .

Maryann has sent me two of her new fragrance candles in a tin to review. I'll say no more for now (apart from that they smell divine!) but keep a look out for that in the not too distant future.

Finally a brand new CD - Amy MacDonald's latest offering 'Life in a Beautiful Light' .

I love Amy's voice and her music so when I heard a few months back that she had a new CD coming out soon I quickly got on Amazon and pre-ordered. Although it wasn't forgotten, it was a lovely surprise when it arrived this morning :-) (and I am already on third listening)

So with my new CD playing and scented candle burning, and a little smile in my heart I got on with my work. And you know what? It wasn't actually that bad and my potentially yucky Thursday actually turned out to be quite lovely!

  1. How nice that you had some nice things. It's wierd how little things make you happy. It's just a shame that not everyone else has such a nice life.

    1. Life is what you make it. Some days are good, some days are not so good. It's not what you have that counts but what you do with it...

    2. But your blog is full of little things and little things only make you happy for so long. I gear you fill your life with so many little things and blog about it because you're trying to prove to yourself that your happy. You're not. There's something big missing from your life that you may have left behind or maybe never had. Find that and then the little things won't matter and Thursdays won't full you with dread.

    3. On the contrary, it's the little things that make it all worthwhile...

    5. Dear Anonymous - I have found that the little things are the ones that give me my best memories - a certain smell that takes me back to a great day - a certain song that reminds me of a loved one - a certain handmade item made especially for me etc etc. If the little things mean so little to you then you are the one missing out. 'Little things' are the things that build us in to who we are and remind us where we come from. You should stop to enjoy the little things then you may be as happy as the rest of us!

  3. Dear Anonymous, I feel it important to point out that the reason why you feel so compelled to write such bile to someone means that it is you that isn't very happy, and so desires to make others feel the same as you do. If you don't like this blog, don't follow it, waste your time reading it, or get all excited about fashioning nasty replies. Go Out, Get yourself one Happy Exsistance, filled with Your Own Little Things.......
